Macrame Plant Hanger Workshop with @anna_und_juan (DE/EN)
Monday, 25 June, 18:00 — 21:00
“Anna & Juan” is a collective based in Zurich formed by the designers Josefina Eliggi (AR) and Luzius Schnellmann (CH) dedicated to developing sustainable textiles based on the use of plant dyes.
Macramé is an ancient textile technique that consists in
knotting cords together in order to create flat surfaces like
belts, rugs and wallhangings, or three-dimensional objects such
as bags and hammocks. Although it became very popular in the
70s, it has a much longer tradition and has been known for
centuries in many different places all around the world.
Nowadays it enjoys a revival along with other textile-related
crafts. During this exclusive 3-hour class at Birdhaus we will
show you the basic macramé knots and how to make a simple plant
hanger with cotton rope, ideal to give a bohemian – yet modern –
touch to your place. Sip prosecco, have a bite, and learn this
craft. Attendees will bring home their own beautiful plant
